Make friends the easy way!
There’s no faster, better way to make new friends than to belong to one (or more) of the many golf leagues or associations offered to men and women through Desert Lakes.
Maybe you prefer to belong to a more formal association type of arrangement or a casual regular weekly series of league events is your cup of tees. Desert Lakes has you covered.
Desert Lakes Leagues
Time to get involved
Monday Night Golf Duels
Players are flighted by handicap and play match play each week against a different opponent. No strokes are figured at the beginning of the match. If you win a hole you give a stroke on the next hole, if you tie the hole no strokes are given on the next hole. It’s a great format and ensures that you have a competitive match and also meet new people each week. The league also features a season kickoff and season-ending “shoot out” that is always great fun.
Thursday Evening’s – 6 After 6
Need help with your Game? Six after Six is great for beginners and intermediate. Everyone 6 years and older are welcome. Wednesday Evening’s – The Business League
Business has never been such a pleasure! Teams consist of four players representing an Alamogordo business or just a group of friends. Teams can have up to three alternates so they can field a team that fits the format each week. The Leagues starts in mid-April and lasts until the end of August. Each week the format is changed and rotated between 5 different formats so the play never gets boring.
Teams earn three points for finishing first, two points for finishing second and one point for finishing third. At the end of the year, the teams with the most points win credits in the Golf Shop. But the fun doesn’t stop! There’s also a separate weekly cash pool: each player pays $10 into the weekly cash pool. The weekly cash pool is divided among the best team, low net, low gross score and low net and low gross skins.
Thursday Evening’s – Land-Air League
Do you love a scramble format? If so this is your league. Land-Air League is a four-person scramble that is scored by Team Quota. Teams are broken down into A/B/C/ Flights on 9 holes and D/E/F Flights on the other 9 holes. Closest to the pins on all 3 Pars. Each flight will have a First, Second and Third place paid out weekly depending on the number of teams.
The Crew – Saturday’s
This group (anyone who shows up & has a handicap) gets together once a week on Saturdays @ 8:30 am. They put $21.00 each into a cash pot and play in groups set up by the Golf Shop. After play the group meets in the 19th Hole for refreshments and then splits the $21 per person pot with $4.00 to five separate pots; Team, Gross Skins, Net Skins, Individual Gross & Individual Net with the extra dollar going to an end of the year pot.
